We established Salem Abdullah Qattan Company “General Trading” in 1936, and the incentive at that time was located in the internal market. After the development of Salem Abdullah Qattan’s business, the expansion of his relationships, and fame, he moved to the Mubarakiya Market near Mubarak’s booth. United with a number of Kuwaiti merchants, they asked Sheikh / Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, to allow the establishment of a market that is specialized for the trade of fabric and text. Upon the agreement, a special land was identified for the project, and designed on international bases, which is still located on Mubarak Al-Kabeer Street Close to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mubarak Al-Kabeer market for fabrics was opened during the reign of Sheikh / Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, under the patronage of the late Sheikh / Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in 1969, and Salem Abdullah Qattan bought shop (No. 65, Block 2) in the market the same year.

It was his policy, to choose fabrics to be distinguished by modern designs, high quality, and the satisfaction of consumer needs at reasonable prices that are suitable for everyone! Following this inherited policy, the place of Salem Abdullah Qattan is now one of the most popular fabric merchant to the Kuwaiti and Gulf society. Since passing away in 1996 up till this moment, we are still importing from the largest factories and design companies that operate on international bases and export to the largest brands in the world. We still ask God to help us adhere to the same policy … modern designs … high quality … and prices suitable to everyone…
